CLOSED

so i’ve just discovered omegle.com. some of you might scoff and hurl insults of immaturity at me for participating in an old school IRC like chat thing. but there’s really nothing like the anonymity of chatting with some1 random at a random place in a random situation…

pretty much means you hear a lot of normal people’s extraordinary stories. think of it like a confessional booth where there’s no chance of the priest recognising your voice, seeing through the screen and no chance any1 will see you going in or out…

still mocking me?

ok then fine. it may be slightly 19-90′s. but at least now i know where i can go to find some1 to talk to if i killed every1 i know or sent the country into a nuclear holocaust and feel guilty about it…

do check it out.

OMEGLE.COM

it’s been like… a month since my last post?

to those… more like 2… of you who actually still do check in to see what’s up, i’m sorry. i haven’t had much time with the computer ever since brenda started her thesis and i went broke.

in most cases i’d tell people that i’ve been keeping myself busy and i’m doing ok. but i think this time i’m gonna choose to be a tad bit more realistic… a change in the direction of less optimism those of you who know me  might not be used to.

  1.  i haven’t been working for forever now, so i’m broke
  2.  i’ve reduces leaving the house to about once in every 2 weeks
  3.  i haven’t had the opportunity to surf and keep in touch with anywhere besides the four walls of my home
  4.  i can’t play the guitar much cause (if you’ve sat around while i practiced before, which i highly DO NOT recommend, you’d know) it’s hell of a disturbance
  5.  and my lack of direction combined with my isolation has caused me to sink into a deep blue funk

what’s worse is that boredom and the inability to keep myself occupied with creative endeavours makes me confront these issues head on.

wow. that’s a headful of pitiful information huh?

———-

on the bright side, all the time i’ve had allows me to watch many reruns on tv. and the more i watch american idol (i like the rounds before the top 12. so sue me…) the more i think my friend jagdish singh is an american idol finalist…

some of you might know him better as the britney spears singing, anoop desai.

anoop-jagdish2

ewan and jeggy has seen this already…
i thought it was hilariously scary…

hmm…

maybe there’s an evil britney spears boy band singing twin out there for me too.

———-

and on the optimistic side of things, it looks like a big project is coming up which i’m really interested in doing. huuuuge project. and more work than you’d believe.

i am so much looking forward to that…

———-

super hero movies have been flooding the theaters lately…

watchmen:

watchmen_teaser_movie_poster22

ok lah…

i’m sure almost everyone has seen this already…
not good not bad. might as well read the comic because the superheroes are fantastically unfantastic and bordering pathetic. the pudgy hawkeye-like dude and the angsty cloth mask dude and dr exhibitionist… come… on…

i believe these characters only work in comics.

push:

poster_push1

the remainder of nazi psychic projects go crazy…

that’s a summary of the show.
a very weak storyline, some pretty pathetic special effects and little to no character development.

the worst part of it is that, because of the complexity of having a storyline which involves reading the future, the show seems to make twists and turns out of that. throwing the audience off with bad preminissions every 2 seconds or so… in the end, it all looks pretentious and it does not even make sense. seriously… the storyline is very very weak… like a whole barrage of coincidences happening one after the other.

don’t watch it unless your friend burned the dvd and you can have a copy to watch for free. don’t borrow it cause you’ll throw it away later and don’t download it because it’s not worth the keyboard finger exercise that’s required to download a movie…

if you’re not convinced, maybe these guys from the show will do better:

pushreview4

this shot in the movie, by the way, is accompanied by “YYYAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!” for about 15 seconds… oh yes… it’s more than just a war cry. it’s that stupid.

2/5

street fighter, legend of chun li:

legend-of-chun-li-movie-poster3

and of course i’d save the best for last…

you wanna see student films air in theaters? this is pretty much what it’d look like if the student of the student film suffered from stupidity.

if you’ve seen the first street fighter movie… then don’t expect anything better. except that this 1 didn’t get their facts right. the researchers must’ve never upgraded their arcade knowlegde from the days of pong or something.

i blame the bad acting on the director.

chun li, nash, balrog and m. bison are pretty damn well known hollywood actors… yet over here, they acted like they children were in high school musical. the best acting of the show probably belonged to edmund chen… says a lot…

i say if you have the opportunity to catch the movie for free, DON’T! it will ruin your day and make you go home angry with yourself, maybe sink into depression for a month and ultimately suicide.

0.5/5

(only shows equivilent to meet the spartans get lower than this)

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and believe that i’m speaking for the good of all man kind when i say “PLEASE PLEASE PPLLEEAASSEE!!! NO MORE SUPER HERO MOVIES!!!”

warren-ellis-crooked-little-vein1

for the readers instead of movie-goers who read my blog, crooked little vein is fan-friggin-tastic! short, sour, enlightening and very funny.

i like reading, but i wouldn’t call myself a reader. so don’t kill me when i ask… who the hell is this warren ellis? why haven’t i heard of him before? he’s great! his humour is sharp and will make you laugh and cringe at the same time.

here’s usually the part i’ll say what the book is about. but i really don’t wanna spoil the surprises in it…

what i will do though, is quote the first few sentences in paragraph 1 just to get you started:

“I opened my eyes to see the rat taking a piss in my coffee mug. It was a huge brown bastard; had a body like a turd with legs and beady black eyes full of secret rat knowledge. Making a smug huffing sound, it threw itself from the table to the floor, and scuttled back into the hole in the wall where it had spent the last three months planning new ways to screw me around.”

yeah.

pretty much the whole book is in a tone similar to that. but it does get better. much much much better. read it!

the title of this blog entry is just a song i think everyone should check out because just because.

On The Road – Jack Kerouac

February 24, 2009

ok.

you might call me slightly biased. but On The Road by Jack Kerouac has to be 1 of the most stunningly vibrant and lively books written of all time!

on-the-road

i have so much to say about the book but there’s simply so many word that can capture the pure joy and psychedelic  exuberance of, after finishing the book, not just jack kerouac’s and niel cassidy’s lives, but life as it is and all the possibilities any person holds in him/her.

i think every singaporean in particular should pick up a copy and read it. learn from it and identify with the characters. along side sending multiple totally non-preachy messages of the endless possibilities of life, it buries all these life’s philosophies in hysteric fun and insanely wild and absorbing adventures on the road and again. reading On The Road is like Dean Cassidy taking a deep long look into the eyes of another life and realising the complexities and vibrant colors of another person.

simply put, after reading the book, i feel like a free bird above the world with no barriers and obsticles i cannot overcome.

5/5

one of the best books i’ve ever read… and i’m pretty sure if you picked it up, it will be 1 of the best books you’ve ever read.

RockNRolla-ing!

February 15, 2009

“sunday’s jamming with Glen, Joash and Sufi was a blast. Full of energy and fun… I think that after 2 more jamming sessions.. we’re Concert ready! Not Gig… well.. maybe thats thinking too far or too much confidence in it.

Sufi left early.. soo.. heck.. its ok. We still rocked. I couldn’t hear myself sing but thats ok. I was shouting most of the time and not singing. Glen rocked out, Joash was awesome and I was just bopping and jumping. We’d be a great stage band to see.

Out of all the songs, I was pretty surprised that we sounded good while playing dakota. Guitars, Bass (first tryout of the song), drums and Vocals all sounded good (Yes.. vocals too. Can’t even get it right with my own song so wtf right?). Our remake of Dear Prudence sounded good too.

I’m very sure that this is a band that WILL be worth partying out to for the energy. Think RHCP when they first came out.. a Huge ball of rock energy. If you want to stand there with your arms folded and be critical on technicality then… fuck off. Either that or you’d be pulled in like a cow stuck within a hurricane.

“Mooooo Moooo~ Where am i? MooOOoOoooooo This is fun! MOOOO” “

-Ewan Lim (from http://ewanlim.wordpress.com)

my sentiments. can’t wait for the next jam

as you may or may not know, brenda’s been mighty busy with school. which inpired me to help her out with her presentation about OCD and compulsive checking. and of course, in the process of helping, i had to drag ewan along with me… (i’m such a good friend that way)

basically, i helped with a little video reflecting the lifestyle of her pitiful OCD’d presentation guest.

enjoy.

another highlight of the week:

i’ve decided the Danelectro reel echo pedal i’ve been using dsnt cut it. and i don’t exactly use the mega-buzzing-noise-slider-thing like einzinger in incubus does.

so looking out inthe classifieds for line6 dl4′s…

line6 dl4

line6 dl4

and boss dd-20′s,

boss dd-20

boss dd-20

i chanced upon an Akai Headrush E2!

akai headrush E2

akai headrush E2

Thank Gawd! The sound quality! It’s like another guitarist playing exactly what i’m playing through another similar set up with a delay! AWESOME!

uber-power delay pedal! I couldn’t ask for more. Very much value for money… more worth it than the dd20 and dl4. pristine clarity and accuracy. Sound-wise, the tip top of the line.

if i were to improve it, it’d have more looping memory. It could have more features like a dd20, dl4 and re20. but how usable are those anyway rite? pfft… excellent!

Camp Freddy

February 6, 2009

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to what is known as Camp Freddy! The greatest show on earth (cirquedusoleil eat your heart out)!

It’s not a band. It’s not a jam session. It’s an occasional gathering of rock royalty and musical legends. Lounge singers turned rock superstars, virtuoso guitarist shredders turned 3 chord punk rockers and tonnes and tonnes of surprise guests. Anything goes when the greatest and the maddest come together to celebrate what they all joined the business for… the music. the fun. the sheer extacy!

Brandon Boyd (Incibus), Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave), Dave Navarro (Janes Addiction/The Panic Channel)… all on the same stage!

This is as good as it gets. I salute Camp Freddy and its over 80 guests and hundred songs.

Check Camp Freddy out @ http://www.campfreddy.net

so… meet blobzilla. my new pet. he worms around my room at night and makes funny faces in the window. he’s sleeping now…

blobzilla1
amazing what a guy can do with 1 or 2 bored hours.

so the past few weeks were kinda cool. reservist is a little bitch. but honestly, so far, complaining would probably be over doing it for me… seeing as how my duty is all about booking into camp at 10pm and sleeping till morning breaks at about 8am and coming home…

but then it does eat up a lot of precious party hours and the journey to and fro from camp is tretorous or long and tedious at best.
but yah… like i said earlier… complaining like i just did… that’s probably over-doing it.

———–

on another note, other interesting things that’ve happened ever since the last blog entry?

———-

00:01 with special k at helipad was the most awesome party. brenda took the trouble to convince me to take mc and go with me to the wrap party. the creative room people were more than freindly… and maybe some of the best people to ever have a wrap party with. and the guys managed to grace us with their presence (not too much of their presence though).

crowd = insane

music = insane

party = insane

price = insane

the party i’ll be missing out on is tonight’s moustache is dope @ mimolette. if you guys can make it i advice you to bring your girlfriend/boyfriend and your facial hair and prepare to par-tay. don’t forget cabfare… the locations a real bitch.

more importantly, i’m also gonna miss out on the 1 brenda mentioned at butterfac. dj inquisitive with a playlist of acdc and does it offend you yeah. that WILL be kick ass. it could be in an empty room with no1 else and it still would be kickass…

why?

have you heard any does it offend you, yeah?

well, have you?

wtf?

GO DOWNLOAD A TORRENT OF THEIR ALBUM MAN!…
what an asshole…

 ———-

currently as i’m approaching the end of ‘on the road’, i was out at bugis-ah-lian-central-junction with wan and we happened to step into the comic store opp kino.

sadly, as broke as i am, i’ve been struck with the insipiration to read graphic novels. but money is never too much trouble and where there’s a will there’s a way…

so now i’m reading niel gaiman’s sandman series. and i must say… i’m a fan. the first few issues have less than satisfactory artwork to me. but the whole story and back stroies to the mystical world created make up for it all.

in fact, i’m so obcessed with it that here’s a screenshot of my desktop wallpaper:

wallpaper
morpheous feeds the pigeons

ah well… enough for now.

back to digging life and it’s insane exuberance!

oh wait… 1 more piece of advice till my next post:

the chronicles of bangkok

January 19, 2009

1) 4 days
2) 3 nights
3) 2½hr plane ride
4) 1 executive suite
5) 6 cans
6) 1 bottle
7) 8 grams
8) 3 friends
9) 1 country

the 9 ingredients to an unforgetable vacation. along with a lot of pad thai and thai iced tea. yes ladies and gentlemen… Bangkok was AMAZING! faaaar surpassed my expectations.

enough babble… here’re but some of the photos… i was lazy to put up the rest (maybe next time).

legacy-boss1

legacy-boss-21

what happened when we discovered the uber beautiful bathroom, bedroom, living room and mother-fuckin-kitchen (BABY!) of hotel’s executive suite. THANK YOU BRENDA!

central-world

central-world-2

hangin’ in bangkok! yes… new shades for 100 baht. powerhouse quality mind you…

sharina-and-greg

here’s meeting the best-of-bkk, street-wise-guides, bargaining-beasts, cuisine-conosuirs, full crew of thailand! the dynamic duo! sharina and greg! (thanks for showing us around guys… and giving us our best meal in bkk (no competition).)

khaosan

possible the most important stop of the trip. the 1 that kicked it all off. night 1 in khao san.

rca-route66

hittin the clubs, scopin the birds and biceps and downin’ the shots. al done in true rich-ass-aristocratic-tourist fashion. only the best for the best.

we-be-high

need i really explain what the eventual late nights were like?…

conclusion:
bangkok… WE WILLL MEET AGAIN! it’s been willld man! wild!

works been a tough 1 these last few months. it’s a lil bit of a bitch of a job. the great part is of course the people. ric, pok, charme, ash, ken, karens-1-&-2, wan and the always cool from contenders hot-chocolate-princess-69, brandon, shorts and yeh. they make work 1 excellent laugh after another.

and after all that (a double shift job and mad exams and thesis), i truly believe that nip, kumquat and i deserve the bangkok trip. what a blast! RCA is apparently nuts, food is cheap and the o so sweet smell of the bangkok rasta scene! what a blast. i expect to go, come back and not remember a thing. haha!

too bad mins not going though. what a downer to the trip… her situation is out of this world hilarious…

1) she left her passport in her bag, which her mom borrowed to indonesia for an unknown time period

2) and switched off her phone.

3) her indo house doesn’t have a land line

4) and relatives… MIA along with her mom!

5) apparently for some reason, ICA doesn’t want to give her the temporary document that allows you through immigration (the same 1 that cow got half a year back).

6) and when min asked ICA about getting another passport… 2 weeks usual and 8 days minimum. mine took less than a week!

that, my friends, is being ass-wooped!

*sigh*

i’ve spoken to brenda and we’ve decided to not let it ruin our trip. endless fun! here we come!

Free Hugs

December 17, 2008

we may all now be familiar with words ‘free hugs’. the idea, no matter how perversified it’s becoming now, is to hold a ‘free hugs’ sign up in a crowded street and start giving free hugs. when you’re done, you pass the sign on and keep it going. i’m pretty sure everyone reading has seen a video or 2 or even a live free hugger…

but what the hell is that all about? is it a messageof brotherhood? of love maybe? mayb just another pervert on the street out to touch a random womans boom-boom-chika-boom…

an australian man by the name of juan mann once came back to sydney after, i assume, his life messed up in london. when the plane landed and the poor sod had no one to welcome him home. he caught sight of a group of friends hugging. that’s probably when the lonliness started sneaking in.

juan mann is 1 of a kind because he didn’t just leave his feelings by the airport sliding doors. the man took out a piece of cardboard, wrote down ‘free hugs’, and went to the busiest street corner he could find…

now according to his website, freehugscampaign dot org, his first custormer was a woman who’s dog just died and it happened to be the 1 year anniversary of her daughter’s death.

that 1 hug is the hug that started it all…

whatever the hell free hugs is supposed to mean, it means something special to that woman, and that matters. well done free huggers. it’s not for me… but if, and when, i see another hugger, i’ll be sure to give some love and encourage ‘em to keep it going…

JUAN MANN

BERKELEY, CA

UGANDA, AFRICA

CHINA

NEW DELHI, INDIA

SINGAPORE

i’m not one to write emotional sap. but maybe juan was right. maybe a hug makes a little difference and maybe this is an “age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact”

my suggestion though…

and this is important…

before you go out free hugging the world, go free hug your family and friends first.
